Running

So I have been trying to get fit and over the last year I've taken up running. Now I'm never going to be Mo Farrah or Usain Bolt but I'm plodding along and improving my fitness and stamina.
So far i have completed a couple of 5k races and one 10k race, a huge achievement from where I was 18 months ago.

RANT Alert

If you are going to book a cab please come out to your driver on time.

Drivers understand that sometimes things take longer 5 mins,10mins is completely understandable, but don't come out 20mins late and tell the driver the cans no longer needed, it isn't going to go down well.

End of rant

Car tracker installed

So,
I have installed a tracker in my car in the event it gets stolen.
It is an old android phone with a hard wired charger fed directly from the car battery running mycartracks app.
It has a pay as you go sim from EE, which thanks to a Xmas promotion gives me 100mb a month allowance free with no obligation to top it up.
So it is hidden behind the dashboard doing two things:

Firstly and primarily it is a tracker, I can send it a text message with a code and then log in to the website and its current position will be displayed along with speed and direction.

Secondly it also logs all routes/journeys carried out in the car so in the event that I need to check if I was somewhere I have a record.
Yes I could buy a dedicated tracking system but I had sitting in a drawer not being used so I thought I'd try it out.

Walking and apps

We went for a walk yesterday around the lake at Virginia Water, so I thought I would try out an app to log the route I took for later analysis. Having previously used MapMyWalk I found that to be adequate although a bit power hungry. So this time I tried My Tracks from Google it was quick to start recording and only used about 10% battery on a 3 hour walk and looking back at the route which the app allowed my to share on Facebook it was fairly accurate.
So well done Google an app which does the basics very well.

Hard to get started!

I tend to find things hard to get started.
Take this blog, I have been meaning to get this of the ground for over a year yet I haven't got round to it. Well that's it I cannot put it of any longer here I am, so much to say but where to start.
In many aspects of my daily life I am somewhat of an oxymoron, for example I am incredibly shy in social situations but I chose to take up a career that involves talking to complete strangers about anything. The usual subjects manage to open conversations, weather, politics, how very British. But I think it maybe that I can invent an image of myself that potentially will never be seen again.
